dfrom Lake Zug by a narrow strip of land, the Kiissnacht Bay of the Lakeof Lucerne; more to the W., Lucerne with its battlements and towers, atthe head of its bay. Beyond Lucerne is seen the hilly district of thecantons of Lucerne and Aargau, dotted with villages and intersected bythe Emme and the Reuss. More distant are the lakes of Sempach, Baldegg,and IJallwil. — To the West and Nokth-West the horizon is bounded by♦he Jura Mtt., above which peep several of the Vosges. — To the North,but to the left of the Lake of Zug, in the dist nee, rises the Hapsbtirg;farther off is the Black Forest. Beyond Lake Zug is seen the crest of theAlbit with the UetUberg, which nearly conceals the Lake of Zurich; thelong cantonal hospital and the cathedral of Zurich are, however, visible,with the large new 116tel Dolder above them. In the valley lie theLake of Lowerz, and the town of Schwyz, at the foot of the two bald Myten,overtopped by the imposing QlUmitcli (see p. 116). — To the South-eastand South the different heights of the Rigi form the foreground: the Hoch-fluh, Scheidegg, Dossen, and Sehild. To the left of the Schild part ot theLake of Lucerne is seen near Beckenried, and to the right the Bay of Buochs,with the Buochier Horn above it; more to the right the Stanser Hornwith Stans at its base; nearer, the less lofty Burgenstock and the Rigi-Rot-stock.
